Discover Your Musical Potential with
Benton Piano Studios
“The instrument you learn on shapes the musician you become. That is why every lesson here is taught on a Steinway.”
— John Benton
Benton Piano Studios
Benton Piano Studios is Wake Forest’s premier destination for private piano instruction, proudly serving students across Raleigh, Wake Forest, and the Research Triangle Area. Whether you are just discovering the piano for the first time or refining the nuances of an advanced repertoire, this studio is for you.
We hold a distinction no other piano studio in North Carolina can claim: we were the first studio in the state to be verified by Steinway & Sons, the world’s foremost piano manufacturer, and are recognized as a Steinway Teacher and Educational Partner. Every lesson at Benton Piano Studios is taught on a Steinway, because we believe the instrument you learn on shapes the musician you become.
Our teaching philosophy is rooted in a methodical, student-centered approach. Lessons are planned around each student’s individual needs, goals, and learning style, building self-confidence alongside genuine musicianship. We don’t simply teach notes; we cultivate a lifelong relationship with music.
Students also have the opportunity to perform and compete through the Raleigh Piano Teachers Association, the North Carolina Music Educators Association, and the Music Teachers National Association, as well as the Elite International Competition with performance opportunities at Carnegie Hall offering real-world experience on the stage that accelerates growth in remarkable ways.
In addition to the private studio, John Benton serves as Head of the Piano Department at Durham School of the Arts, bringing the same depth, rigor, and warmth to every student who walks through our door.
